Blackburn Rovers striker Matt Derbyshire admits he is driven by the desire of proving people wrong.
Derbyshire believes some people feel his success at Ewood Park will be only fleeting after he stepped up from non-league.
Those whispers have already given the England Under-21 international a hard edge and he has weighed in with two goals this season for club and country.
one-season wonder
Derbyshire is aiming to improve his tally on Sunday when Blackburn take on Manchester City in the Barclays Premier League.
He said: "For any striker branded a one-season wonder it is good to get your first Premier League goal in the opening game. For confidence it was brilliant and that is what football is all about - proving people wrong and showing what I can do.
"Scoring twice already has been good for me and put the doubters to rest. Hopefully there is a lot more to look forward to."
