Diomansy Kamara scored a dramatic late overhead kick to snatch an unlikely point against a wasteful Tottenham.
Younes Kaboul poked home after Antti Niemi had flapped at Gareth Bale's corner and Dimitar Berbatov smashed in Robbie Keane's sublime flick.
Fulham pulled one back through a Clint Dempsey header but Bale extended the lead with a fine solo run and finish.
Alexey Smertin's deflected shot off Ricardo Rocha clawed Fulham within reach before Kamara's late leveller.
It was the most unlikely of points for Fulham who had been completely outplayed throughout.
The visitors squandered countless chances and a draw for Martin Jol will feel like a sickening defeat, while Sanchez will feel extremely relieved to escape with a point.
Of the five new Fulham faces to arrive at Craven Cottage recently, only deadline-day arrival Dejan Stefanovic started, while Niemi returned from long spell out with a wrist injury.
And 10 minutes into his first appearance of the season, the keeper gifted Spurs the lead. The Finn flapped at Bale's whipped corner and the loose ball fell kindly to Kaboul who prodded his first goal for Spurs into the gaping net.
Berbatov opened his account for the season on 28 minutes after receiving a wonderful cushioned pass from skipper Robbie Keane. The Bulgarian raced past Stefanovic and clinically lashed home from an angle.
Jermaine Jenas should have finished Fulham off soon after, but when clean through, he turned into trouble rather than squaring to the unmarked Keane.
Spurs stretched the hosts with the excellent Bale causing grief with every foray forward and the industrious Jenas and Steed Malbranque swarmed the back line at will.
Utterly outplayed in the first half and completely against the run of play, the home side drew level just before the break when Clint Dempsey took advantage of slack marking to power home Simon Davies' corner.
Tottenham found their rhythm soon after the re-start with the outstanding Berbatov forcing Niemi into fumbling over the bar, while former Fulham favourite Malbranque smashed a half volley against the post with Niemi grounded.
Tottenham's persistence paid off on 61 minutes, though, when Bale latched on to Keane's sublime flick, charged down the left flank unopposed and coolly slotted past Niemi.
Smertin's strike from the edge of the area smashed into the diving Ricardo Rocha and looped up and over Robinson giving the England keeper no chance as Fulham searched for an unlikely point late on.
And at the death, Kamara's desperate acrobatics from the edge of the area caught out Paul Robinson secured the fortunate point.
