Coppell reveals Seol exit reason

Reading boss Steve Coppell concedes his strained relationship with Seol Ki-Hyeon was instrumental in the South Korean midfielder's move to Fulham.

Seol, 28, moved in a swap deal for Liam Rosenior after expressing discontent at a lack of first-team football.

Coppell told Reading's website: "He felt he should play every game and felt he shouldn't have been brought off in a few other games.

"Our relationship was affected by that and it was obvious he wanted to move."

Coppell added: "I think I would probably say to a certain extent, I lost Seol last season by not playing him regularly.

"It wasn't said in the open but in the chats we had I knew where he was coming from - and where he wanted to go.

"That was Fulham, it was obvious from last season," stated Coppell, who believes the location of Fulham's training ground was also a factor.

Coppell said: "There is a big Korean community by their training ground and he wanted to live there.

"He spent a lot of time there when he was living in Reading so to make the best of the situation we got in dialogue with Fulham and certain deals were mooted."

Reading paid Wolves £1.5m for Seol in July 2006. He had joined the West Midlands club from Belgian side Anderlecht two years previously.
