Liverpool's Jamie Carragher is targeting a return to action against Portsmouth on Saturday.
After recovering from the rib injury he sustained against Sunderland last month, the ex-England international is back in light training. Cautious of risking the defender unnecessarily, Red's manager Rafael Benitez will wait until the end of the week to decide whether Carragher will make an appearance at Fratton Park
running again
Benitez told the club's official website: "We must be careful with Carra, and we will wait until the end of the week to see how well he is. He is running again and he will do more training and then maybe we can see if he has a chance to play at the weekend. At this moment, it's still too early to say."
After beating Derby County 6-0 in their last match, Barclays Premier League leaders Liverpool will be looking to maintain their lofty position with a result against Harry Redknapp's team this Saturday.
